1st PLACE: Spoiled

FIRST PLACE, INDIE SHORT, AGES 8-12 (12 MINUTES AND UNDER)

2011 Q4 Ages 5-12 Runtime 10 minutes Live Action

Eight-year-old Teddy is spoiled, self-centered and bratty. With failing grades and a bad attitude, his mother takes his prize possession - his video game. Stealing it back brings the wrath of Mom and she forces Teddy to donate his game to a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan. The soldier and Teddy begin a correspondence that ultimately brings Mom and Teddy to a new understanding. JULIE MYNATT

Interesting message here. It's not just about veterans and people fighting overseas, but about appreciating what is most important in life and having a better life perspective. Not only does Teddy learn that there are more important things than his video games, but mom learns to cherish the moments she has with her son and take him more seriously. Well produced independent short, well acted. Good discussion starter.
